Description
Sheet molding compound (SMC) is both a reinforcing composite material and a process.Composite is a “ready to mold” carbon fiber or glass reinforced polyester material, primarily used in compression molding.
Our SMC compounds are manufactured in a continuous inline process by dispersing chopped glass fibers or long carbon fibers on a bath of polyester resin, vinyl ester resin or epoxy resin.It is a flexible leather-like sheet that is easy to cut, weigh, and place in a mold to harden to the desired part shape.
